The last two days have been quite eventful. We had our consulate appointment confirmed on Tuesday which gave us the green light to book tickets and send out for our Visas. Let me just say getting those two things done is nothing short of a miracle... ticket prices continued to rise as seats sold as fast as I could find them. Being the resourceful little travel agent that I am, I booked us a day earlier than we originally planned and found air fare that we won't have to re-mortgage the house for. The extra day will give us all time to unwind (what I really mean here is hightail it to The Cow and Bridge restaurant in Gunagzhou for Red Curry Prawns with a cold Tsingtao) and adjust to the time change (what I really mean here is to find that 24 hours of sleep we lost on the plane ride). We will also get to see our very good friend Molly, who we met during Clara's adoption and is now working for our agency.
Visa requirements have gotten more strict (my guess is because of the upcoming Olympics) so that in itself is proving to be a bit tricky. I've abandoned plans A and B and will try plan C tomorrow. With any luck we'll have them in our hands sometime before we board the plane.
Here's our schedule:
Depart Minneapolis, May 20, arrive Guangzhou, China, May 21
(we'll spend some time here visiting the city where Clara was born)
Depart Guangzhou for Xi'an, May 25 (also the day we get Lu - yeah!)
Depart Xi'an, May 31 for Guangzhou
Consulate appointment where everything becomes official, June 3
Depart Guangzhou for Minneapolis, June 5
p.s. Isn't our son ADORABLE!
